O presente relatório realizado no âmbito do estágio curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária da Universidade de Évora tem por base o estágio realizado no Hospital Veterinário de São Bento em Lisboa. Este relatório encontra-se dividido em duas partes. Na primeira será abordada, sucintamente, a casuística acompanhada durante o estágio. A segunda parte consiste numa monografia com o tema “Fratura de Monteggia em Cão e Gato”, complementada com 2 casos clínicos acompanhados durante o estágio curricular. A fratura de Monteggia consiste numa fratura do terço proximal da ulna com luxação simultânea da cabeça do rádio. Esta fratura é posteriormente classificada de acordo com os quatro tipos existentes, sendo a do tipo I a mais frequente nos pequenos animais. É uma lesão bastante rara, tanto na ortopedia veterinária como na humana. As técnicas cirúrgicas para a sua resolução dependem do padrão de fratura e das características do paciente; Abstract: Monteggia Fracture in the Dog and Cat The current report was carried out under the scope of master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine of the University of Évora and is based on the traineeship performed at the Hospital Veterinário de São Bento in Lisbon. This report is divided into two parts. In the first one, it will briefly address the case studies followed during the traineeship. The second part is formed by a monography about “Monteggia Fracture in the Dog and Cat”, along with two clinical case reports followed during the traineeship. The Monteggia fracture consists of a fracture of the proximal third of the ulna with simultaneous luxation of the radio head. This fracture is subsequently classified according to the four existing types, with type I being the most frequent in small animals. It is a very rare lesion in both veterinary and human orthopedics. The surgical techniques for its resolution depend on the fracture pattern and the characteristics of the patient.r
