Cerca de 30% dos internamentos pediátricos podem ser evitados com adequados cuidados de ambulatório. As CSCA permitem analisar estes internamentos e monitorizar a morbilidade, acesso e qualidade dos cuidados. Considerando a vulnerabilidade e poucos estudos sobre CSCA em idade pediátrica, foi efetuada a caracterização destes internamentos, através das metodologias PDI e Bardsley et al., com episódios de internamento da BDMH da ACSS, de menores de 18 anos, do ano 2017, com os GDH da versão ICD-10-CM. Foi realizada uma análise descritiva com o software SPSS e Microsoft Office Excel, das variáveis sexo, idade, região, duração de internamento e diagnósticos principais e determinada a prevalência, a taxa dos internamentos por CSCA e o impacto financeiro. Verificou-se que estes internamentos representam 13,10 a 17,50% do total de internamentos pediátricos, respetivamente, com a metodologia PDI e Bardsley et al., com uma demora média de 4 dias, mais prevalentes no sexo masculino (52%), até aos 4 anos (>30%), na região Norte (>30%) e com uma maior taxa na região de Lisboa (>30 internamentos/10.000 habitantes). As principais causas foram a Gastroenterite, Infeção Urinária, Infeções dos ouvidos, nariz e garganta, Asma e Convulsões e Epilepsia. O impacto financeiro foi de 4 a 6 milhões de euros, para mais de 20 mil dias de internamento. Os resultados revelam uma potencial diferença de necessidades de cuidados por região e uma indispensável adequação da oferta e distribuição de recursos em saúde.ABSTRACT - Hospital admissions can reveal consequences on child development, increase the risk of infections and increase hospital costs. About 30% of pediatric hospitalizations can be avoided with appropriate outpatient care. The ACSC allow the analysis of these hospitalizations and monitor morbidity, access and quality of care. Considering the vulnerability and few studies on ACSC in pediatric age, the hospitalizations were performed by ACSC in Portugal using the PDI and Bardsley et al. methodologies, with episodes of hospitalization of the ACSS database, under the age 18, in 2017, with the GDH of the ICD-10-CM version. A descriptive analysis was performed with the SPSS and Microsoft Office Excel software of the variables gender, age, region and main diagnostics, and the prevalence, hospitalizations rate for ACSC and financial impact were determined. It was verified that these hospitalizations represented 13.10 to 17.50% of the total pediatric hospitalizations, respectively, with the PDI methodology and Bardsley et al., with an average lengh of stay of 4 days, more prevalent in males (52 %), up to 4 years old (> 30%), in the Northern region (> 30%) and with a higher rate in the Lisbon region (> 30 hospitalizations / 10,000 inhabitants). The main causes were Gastroenteritis, Urinary injury, Ear, nose and throat infection, Asthma and Seizures and Epilepsy. The financial impact was 4 to 6 million euros, for more than 20 thousand days of hospitalization.
