Summary: In August 1942, Brazilian merchant ships were torpedoed by the German submarine U-boat 507, off the coast of Sergipe, causing more than 500 (five hundred) deaths that justified Brazil's participation in the Second World War. This article intends to take a look at Archeology, even if indirectly in some cases, on the material culture remaining from these episodes, such as the Cemeteries of the Castaways, the iconographic sources of the State of Sergipe Public Archive, and the local newspapers.
