ANXIETY, DEPRESSION AND STRESS IN NURSES DURING AND AFTER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A look at the literature

Summary: During the Covid-19 pandemic, health professionals were faced with unexpected, demanding situations, facing various difficulties and as a result of this process they experienced an immensity of negative feelings. Among these professionals, nurses were faced with overload, which often led to stress due to their routines, as well as anxiety and depression. The objective of the present study was to collect data from the literature related to the topic on the occurrence of anxiety, depression and stress in nurses during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the risk factors associated with such occurrences. This is an integrative review of the literature whose search for materials took place in September 2023, on Google Scholar using the following key words: “covid” and “nurse” and “anxiety” and “depression” and “stress” and as a criterion For inclusion, works were prioritized: in the Portuguese language, in the time frame from 2020 to 2023 that had been carried out in the form of field research. 19 works were selected and analyzed. In their research, the authors reported occurrences of anxiety, depression and stress during and after Covid-19. In relation to the risk factors associated with the occurrence of these events, the following can be mentioned: fear, frustration, exhaustion, anguish, panic disorder, nervousness, concern about contaminating oneself and ending up contaminating the family, difficulties in decision-making, concern for the unknown among others.

Entre estos profesionales, los enfermeros se enfrentaban a la sobrecarga, que a menudo provocaba estrés debido a sus rutinas, así como ansiedad y depresión. El objetivo del presente estudio fue recopilar datos de la literatura relacionada con el tema sobre la ocurrencia de ansiedad, depresión y estrés en enfermeros durante y después de la pandemia de Covid-19, así como los factores de riesgo asociados a tales ocurrencias. Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura cuya búsqueda de materiales se realizó en septiembre de 2023, en Google Scholar utilizando las siguientes palabras clave: "covid" y "enfermera" y "ansiedad" y "depresión" y "estrés" y como criterio de inclusión, se priorizaron los trabajos: en lengua portuguesa, en el marco temporal de 2020 a 2023 que se habían realizado en forma de investigación de campo. Se seleccionaron y analizaron 19 obras. En su investigación, los autores informaron de casos de ansiedad, depresión y estrés durante y después de la Covid-19. En relación a los factores de riesgo asociados a la ocurrencia de estos eventos, se pueden mencionar los siguientes: miedo, frustración, agotamiento, angustia, trastorno de pánico, nerviosismo, preocupación por contaminarse y terminar contaminando a la familia, dificultades en la toma de decisiones, preocupación por lo desconocido entre otros.Durante a pandemia do Covid-19 os profissionais da saúde se depararam com situações inesperadas, com muita exigência, enfrentando dificuldades diversas e em consequência desse processo vivenciaram uma imensidão de sentimentos negativos. Dentre esses profissionais, os enfermeiros se depararam com uma sobrecarga, e com ela surgiu muitas vezes o estresse devido a suas rotinas, bem como a ansiedade e a depressão. O objetivo do presente estudo foi levantar na literatura correlata ao tema dados sobre a ocorrência de ansiedade, depressão e estresse em enfermeiros durante e após a pandemia Covid-19 bem como os fatores de risco associados a tais ocorrências. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura cuja busca de materiais ocorreu em setembro de 2023, no google acadêmico utilizando as seguintes palavras chaves: “covid” and “enfermeiro” and “ansiedade” and “depressão” and “estresse” e como critério de inclusão foram priorizadas obras: no idioma português, no recorte temporal de 2020 a 2023 que tivessem sido realizadas na forma de pesquisa em campo. Foram selecionadas e analisadas 19 obras. Os autores relataram em suas pesquisas ocorrencias de ansiedade, depressão e estresse durante e pós Covid-19.
