With the emergence of new technologies, information is propagated with a very high speedkim and in this context memes have been gaining space on social networks and increasingly influencing the forms of both reading and writing, since society and daily life are increasingly driven by digital technologies. The aim of this article is to address the importance of discussing the potential of memetic language in the educational context. Thus, the general objective of this study is to make an approach to the meme textual genre as a digital tool in the teaching of Portuguese Language in High School, providing new contexts of significant learning, as well as contributing significantly to the development of digital language practices, provided for in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). And in order to discuss in the face of the objectives and problems addressed, specifically, this research will seek to discuss the importance of the meme genre as a digital tool to be worked on in High School, present the multiliteracies present in the memetic language, show that it is possible to resignify the teaching of Portuguese Language through new practices of digital languages from the use of the meme genre. This is a basic study with a qualitative approach. As for the objectives, it is a descriptive research and as for the technical procedures of data collection, it is characterized as a bibliographic survey of works that make it possible to analyze indispensable elements of the meme textual genre.
