Summary: This research aims to explore the use of psychedelics as a new, innovative, and revolutionary therapeutic approach in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The study seeks to thoroughly analyze the historical context, the evolution of psychotherapy practices over the centuries, and the challenges faced in the relentless pursuit of more effective and lasting treatments. Furthermore, it aims to propose promising and invigorating new paths for clinical practice, considering recent and promising scientific evidence regarding the use of psychedelics as a transformative therapeutic resource. This study conducts an integrative literature review to understand the New Frontiers in the Treatment of PTSD. The research was carried out using databases such as Scielo, BVS – Virtual Health Library, and PubMed. The descriptors used were taken from DeSC (Descriptors in Health Sciences), including "Hallucinogens," "Mental Health," "Psychological Trauma," and "Psilocybin." Additionally, specific filters were applied in the article selection, considering language (Portuguese and English) and publication year (2021 – 2024). Psychotherapy is a fundamental approach in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), providing support, guidance, and specialized care to individuals facing the challenges associated with this highly debilitating disorder. Through specific therapeutic techniques, patients can learn to identify, recognize, and effectively manage the debilitating symptoms of PTSD, enabling them to rebuild their lives and seek a healthy balance and sense of well-being. Recent clinical studies have revealed that the controlled administration of psychedelics, combined with psychotherapy sessions, has led to a statistically significant reduction in PTSD symptoms, providing lasting relief for patients. Moreover, the positive effects observed in the studies have contributed to legitimizing and expanding the use of these substances in the treatment of mental disorders.

Editora Brazilian Scientific Publications2024-10-18info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/397410.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n10p2712-2718Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 10 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807 - ÍNDICE H 22; 2712-2718Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 10 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807 - ÍNDICE H 22; 2712-2718Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 10 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807 - ÍNDICE H 22; 2712-27182674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/3974/4068Copyright (c) 2024 Lua Clara Feliciano, Gabriel Kisiolar Vaz Ferreira, Nayanne Arero Pereira Melo, Karlla Jadjiski Fachetti, Neveton Figueiredo Ruas Júnior, Henrique Cavali Alessi , Geovanna Pozzebon Carvalho, Nathália Ribeiro Coelho , João Paulo Passos Martins , Clériston Crisóstomo Rebouças da Silva https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFeliciano, Lua ClaraFerreira, Gabriel Kisiolar VazMelo, Nayanne Arero PereiraFachetti, Karlla JadjiskiJúnior, Neveton Figueiredo RuasAlessi , Henrique CavaliCarvalho, Geovanna PozzebonCoelho , Nathália RibeiroMartins , João Paulo PassosSilva , Clériston Crisóstomo Rebouças da2024-10-18T22:15:45Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/3974Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-10-18T22:15:45Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
