Summary: | This article aims to address the professional training of teachers from the angle of the sociology of the professions. The representation of teaching as a “vocation” and the premises of the natural, feminine tendency to perform an activity “greater” than – and superior to – other professions, that of the “educator”, has brought a tremendous ambiguity to the training of teachers. Our hypothesis is that the spread of this perspective has contributed to the professional misrepresentation of teaching. Professionalism is a necessary condition for the quality of professional practice because, when anchored in professional habitus, it enables the development of reasonable actions (“sense of play”) that, incorporated into the actions experienced in the school field, supports good professional training. |

El objetivo del presente artículo es abordar la formación profesional del professor desde el ángulo de la sociología de las profesiones. La representación del magisterio como “vocación” y las premisas de la tendencia natural feminina para el desempeño de una actividad “mayor” y superior a las demás profesiones –la de “educador”– ocasionaron una enorme ambigüedad a la formación de los profesores. Nuestra hipótesis es que la diseminación de esta perspectiva contribuyó para la descaracterización profesional del magisterio. El profesionalismo es uma condición necesaria para la calidad del ejercicio profesional, ya que por estar anclado al habitus profesional, viabiliza el desarrollo de las acciones razonables (“sentido del juego”) que, incorporadas por las acciones experimentadas en el campo escolar, fundamentarían una buena formación profesional. L’objectif de cet article est d’aborder la formation professionnelle des enseignants sous l’angle de la sociologie des professions. La représentation de la carrière d’enseignant en tant que « vocation » et le presupposé de la tendance naturelle des femmes à l´exercice d’une activité « majeure » et supérieure aux autres professions – celle d’ « éducateur » – ont apporté une énorme ambiguité à la formation des enseignants. Notre hypothèse est que la dissémination de cette perspective a largement contribué à la perte de caractère professionnelle de l’enseignement. La professionnalité est la condition nécessaire à la qualité de l’exercice professionnel, ancrée dans l´habitus professionel elle rend viable le développement d´actions rationnelles (« sens du jeu ») qui, integrées à des actions appuyées sur l´experience du champ scolaire, sont le fondement d’une bonne formation professionnelle. O objetivo do artigo é abordar a formação profissional do professor pelo ângulo da sociologia das profissões. A representação do magistério como “vocação” e as premissas da tendência natural feminina para desempenho de uma atividade “maior” e superior às demais profissões – a de “educador” – trouxeram uma enorme ambiguidade para a formação dos professores. Nossa hipótese é que a disseminação dessa perspectiva contribuiu para a descaracterização profissional do magistério.
