Resumo: | The aim of the study was to analyze frailty and associated factors in hospitalized elderly on a ward unit of the Distrito Federal (DF).The study was observational, cross-sectional and descriptive, consisting of 65 elderly people of both sexes, aged ≥ 60 years and hospitalized at the ward level. Sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were assessed and frailty status was stratified using the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS), considering mild frailty (CFS 1-3). moderate frailty (CFS 4-6) and severe frailty (CFS 7-9). Inferential, descriptive and comparative analysis was performed using the chi-square (χ2) and one-way ANOVA tests, in addition to Stepwise multiple linear regression to identify associations between frailty and independent variables (p<0,05). The general prevalence of frailty in hospitalized elderly was 37,8% according to the CFS scale, with the majority being moderately frail. Female sex (p=0,003), advanced age (p=0,019) and lower education (p=0,001) were associated with severe frailty, as well as neurological diseases (p=0,019), musculoskeletal diseases (p=0,003) and hospitalization outside of theward unit (p=0,010). In hospitalized elderly, sociodemographic and clinical factors are related to the development of frailty. |

In hospitalized elderly, sociodemographic and clinical factors are related to the development of frailty.O objetivo do estudo foi analisar a fragilidade e os fatores associados em idosos hospitalizados em uma enfermaria de Clínica Médica (CM) do Distrito Federal (DF).
