Summary: This article discusses the importance of studies on hospital accreditation processes and their impact on patient safety, focusing on evaluations of two health accreditation models used in Brazil: The Joint Commission International (JCI) and the National Accreditation Organization (ONA). The study, of a qualitative nature, using the document analysis method, supported by content analysis, compares the two accreditations’ models, highlighting their similarities, differences, and effectiveness in improving healthcare. Furthermore, it discusses how the implementation of these models can influence organizational culture and hospital management, factors that make it possible to guarantee the safety and quality of health services in Brazil.

Además, discute cómo la implementación de estos modelos puede influir en la cultura organizacional y la gestión hospitalaria, factores que garantizan la seguridad y la calidad de los servicios de salud en Brasil.Este artigo discute a importância dos estudos sobre os processos de acreditação hospitalar e seu impacto na segurança dos pacientes, como foco nas avaliações de dois modelos de acreditação em saúde utilizados no Brasil: o Joint Commission International (JCI) e a Organização Nacional de Acreditação (ONA). O estudo, de natureza qualitativa, empregando o método de análise documental, apoiada em análise de conteúdo, compara os dois modelos de acreditação, destacando suas semelhanças, diferenças e eficácia na melhoria dos cuidados de saúde.
