Summary: | This article was done with a goal: develop the knowledge about one of most important phenomena of distance learning, the permanence of students, relating course offer aspects with the students opinion about permanence factors, considering the importance of this modality in the present days. The objective was to understand the way in which organizational and motivational factors contributed to the permanence and conclusion of the third edition of the PLAGEDER distance course, analyzing the influence of factors related to the permanence in the course, identifying and understanding the obstacles of the students to the conclusion of the course. Thus, the following research problem was answered: in what way organizational and motivational factors reflect in the permanence and conclusion of the distance learning course in Rural Development - PLAGEDER, in its third edition. The research involved quantitative and qualitative analysis. Primary and secondary data were used in the data collection. Questionnaires were used both for the students of the course and for the actors involved with the course offer. The work also relied on the use of observation for data collection. The results showed a significant difference of the permanence in the different poles where the course was offered, varying from 16% to 54.76%. In general, it was possible to verify that factors related to face-to-face activities were considered more important by the students than the factors related to distance activities for the decision to remain in the course.The relationship between the limited time available for the study and the lack of self-discipline, as obstacles to the completion of the course, compose an interesting find presented in the results. |

Este artículo se realizó con el propósito de desarrollar el conocimiento de uno de los fenómenos más relevantes de la Educación a Distancia (EaD), la permanencia de los estudiantes, relacionando losaspectos de la oferta del curso con la opinión de los estudiantes sobre los factores de permanencia, considerando la relevancia de la temática en el presente. El objetivo fue comprender la forma en que los factores organizacionales y motivacionales contribuyeron a la permanencia y conclusión de la tercera edición del curso a distancia PLAGEDER, analizando la influencia de factores relacionados con la permanencia en el curso, identificando y entendiendo los obstáculos de los estudiantes para la conclusión del curso. Con ello, se dio respuesta al siguiente problema de investigación: ¿cómo las cuestiones personales, académicas y contextuales se reflejan en la permanencia y conclusión de la carrera de grado en Desarrollo Rural a distancia - PLAGEDER, en su tercera edición? La investigación tuvo análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo. En la recogida de datos se utilizaron datos primarios y secundarios, y se realizaron cuestionarios tanto para los alumnos del curso como para los actores involucrados con la oferta del curso. El trabajo también se basó en el uso de la observación para la recopilación de datos. Los resultados evidenciaron una diferencia significativa en la permanencia en los diferentes centros donde se impartió el curso, oscilando entre el 16% y el 54,76%. En general, se pudo verificar que los factores relacionados con las actividades presenciales fueron considerados más importantes por los estudiantes que los relacionados con las actividades a distancia para la decisión de permanecer en el curso. La relación entre el escaso tiempo disponible para el estudio y la falta de autodisciplina, como obstáculos para completar el curso, conforman un interesante hallazgo presentado en los resultados. Este artigo foi produzido com a finalidade de desenvolver o conhecimento relacionado a um dos fenômenos mais relevantes da Educação a Distância (EaD), ou seja, a permanência dos alunos, relacionando os aspectos de oferta do curso com a opinião dos alunos a respeito dos fatores de permanência e considerando a relevância do tema na atualidade. O objetivo foi compreender o modo pelo qual os fatores organizacionais e motivacionais contribuíram para a permanência e a conclusão da terceira edição do curso a distância PLAGEDER, a partir da análise da influência de fatores relacionados à permanência no curso, identificando e compreendendo os obstáculos dos alunos para a conclusão dele. Com isso, buscou-se responder ao seguinte problema de pesquisa: de que maneira questões pessoais, acadêmicas e contextuais refletiram na permanência e na conclusão do curso a distância de graduação em Desenvolvimento Rural – PLAGEDER –, em sua terceira edição? A pesquisa envolveu análise quantitativa e qualitativa. Na coleta de dados, foram utilizados dados primários e secundários, com base na realização de questionários tanto para os alunos do curso quanto para os atores envolvidos com a oferta do curso. O trabalho também contou com o uso da observação para a coleta de dados. Os resultados apresentaram uma diferença significativa da permanência nos diferentes polos onde foi ofertado o curso, variando de 16% a 54,76%. De um modo geral, foi possível verificar que fatores relacionados a atividades presenciais foram considerados mais importantes pelos alunos do que os fatores relacionados às atividades a distância, para a decisão de permanecerem no curso.
