Resumo em Inglês: The generating theme of this dissertation, from the perspective of environmental education is the noise pollution, because noise is still the third-causing pollution to the earth's environment. Established as objectives of this research: 1) analyze how a population of young people and adults perceive the noise present in the environment in which attends and 2) applying an action research with a view to raising awareness of young people to the issue of noise pollution. It can be seen as a major problem to the urban environment in several situations experienced by people ranging from daily labor, to religious moment, until leisure time. On this matter, it appears that despite the existing noise controlling laws, the question deserves further review by the government in order that the standards are followed, observing the limits for the various activities carried out and the most diverse environments in which it occurs. When exposed to noise, people are more likely to develop numerous auditory and non-auditory problems, thus impacting directly on their personal and family lives and also in their working lives, damaging the professional environment, jeopardizing jobs. The action research was the chosen method to be applied in the development of this study. To this end, we elaborate educational workshops with educational interventions guided by qualified and trained professionals in the areas that they worked, where the goal was to involve the students, providing them with autonomy and making them replicators of the new acquired knowledge, through the dissemination of this learning in their means of more immediate experiences, with the nearest, and the not so close people. The results of the interviews demonstrate that people perceive the presence of noise in various environments that they attend; they are able to identify the source of the noise, but this perception proves fragile given that the majority does not take measures to prevent or mitigate these noises, not taking adequate precautions as well as not seeking proper medical services. Students demonstrate ignorance of the laws for noise restriction in social life, and consider the presence of noise as a normal fact of modern life, especially that which is generated in traffic. After the application of educational interventions, through educational workshops, the students spread the knowledge passed on by replicating it in their communities, demonstrating that they have been sensitized, becoming aware of their active role in society. Thus, the method of action research succeeded in its objectives, and can be used to fruition by other researchers for the development of similar works, as it offers the possibility of learning in two-way street, encompassing all the elements involved in the research, both surveyed and researchers, being a valuable contribution to academia, through the proposed topics to be investigated.
