Resumo em Inglês: Currently it appears to be clearly that, despite the power it holds, the media finds strength in society. Ignacio Ramonet calls the specialized experiences that criticises the media as "fifth power". Based on this nomenclature, this thesis questions: does the fifth power actually exercises power? Considering this issue, this research aimed to conduct a comparative study of two experiences of fifth power - the catalan observatory Observatori de les Dones en els Mitjans de Comunicació and the brazilian blog Escreva, Lola, escreva - selected in first place because of the topic addressed by them: media criticism directed at gender issues. Specific objectives were identify and analyze their speech strategies using as reference the Semiolinguistic Theory of the Discourse of Patrick Charaudeau, and draw up a communication contract of media criticism in order to understand the relationship between the media, the media criticism and the public shared by them.
