Resumo em Inglês: The present study aimed to identify and analyze the experiences and social networks of men in the street. We used a semi-structured interview script, a map of significant social networks and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Twelve men attended by a Pop Center in the Capital of Paraná participated in the study. In the interviews the thematic categorical analysis was used and the network map was identified the structure and functions of the network, and the attributes of the link. The analysis of the experiences reports allowed the construction of the following thematic categories: 1. Life path and the insertion in the world of the streets, 2. Senses and meanings referring to the person in a street situation, 3. Changes of life, 4. The look of society in front of street people, and 5. Relations with family and friends. The abusive use of alcohol and drugs, family conflicts, discrimination and the perception of social exclusion were identified in the reports. In the network map, the community quadrant that was sectioned in social work and health care, presented the largest number of people, social institutions and public facilities with the functions aimed at emotional and spiritual support, material help, cognitive guide and social regulation . About the attributes of the link, it was verified that the contacts are frequent and that the members of the network develop several functions. On the other hand, the smallest number of people were concentrated in the family and work / study quadrants, which indicates the weakening of family ties. The results showed the social reality experienced by the participants and the need to understand the singularities of life stories. It is hoped that the results of this research can help improve the practices of the professionals who work with street people, and also contribute to the integrated work with the community, since they fulfill a relevant role of agents of social transformation for the purpose of effecting what is proposed in public policies.
