Resumo: | In 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the largest number of entrepreneurs in the history of Brazil was recorded, and the entrepreneurial vocation may not have been the main motivation, but the loss of income. In other words, this crisis would have driven non-entrepreneurs to enter business in search of income. In this way, the objective of this work is to analyze whether the state (economic situation) would lead individuals to open companies, even if they do not have an entrepreneurial profile. That is, is entrepreneurship state-independent? For this, the econometric technique Propensity Score Matching was used in companies located in the municipality of Ponta Grossa - PR, opened between 2019 and 2020. The results indicate that balancing, in addition to solving the problem of selection bias, helps to confirm the hypothesis assumed in this work, entrepreneurship is state-independent. |
