Resumo: Residential satisfaction is influenced by several aspects and it involves several elements that are interrelated. The research aims to identify the factors in the relationship of users on the design decisions of their housing project, as well as whether this reflected in residential satisfaction or in the perception of the housing performance. Thus, the research used the questionnaire as a data collection instrument, using the Survey method, with closed questions and answers, with a Likert scale in five points, being applied between May and September 2020. Considering its objectives, the research was classified as exploratory and as to its nature of the data as quantitative. For the development of the research, 426 samples were collected, formed by inhabitants of the South, Southeast and Center-West regions of the country. 278 responses from users with their own home and 43 variables related to the architectural environment were selected. The variables include three constructs, namely: Residential Satisfaction, Architectural Characteristics and Housing Knowledge and Performance. The SPSS software was used as a data analysis technique as well as descriptive and multivariate statistical analysis were applied, including correlations, factor analysis and discriminant analysis. The analysis showed which architecture-related variables most influence housing satisfaction and performance. It was also possible to analyze the differences between house and apartment residents. The correlation analysis showed that knowledge about civil construction has little effect on residential satisfaction, and that the more users give their opinion on the characteristics of the residence, the more residential satisfaction is perceived.
