Resumo: | This paper deals with the internal resistance measurement methodologies of lead acid batteries, aiming to identify which method is most effective in daily use in preventive maintenance of battery banks. The theory of battery operation is described, as well as its main characteristics and ways of control and measurement of its main parameters. The device tested must be able to identify a defective battery by reading the voltage, current and internal resistance. DC, pulsed DC, and 2-level DC methods are tested. The AC method is also tested with 100,500 and 1000Hz sine signal. The device chosen as most efficient is the 100Hz sine method which was able to read the internal resistance of the batteries with metallized poles and lead poles, thus providing a tool suitable for the service technician, able to prevent a complete battery bank failure through periodic preventive maintenance. |
