Resumo: | The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) developed the IEC 61850 standard with the aim of reaching interoperability, that is, the ability to exchange information between Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) from different vendors; especially within substation automation systems. Among the developed resources to reach such objective is a language capable of representing relevant information that includes IED capabilities and configuration, the single line diagram topology of the substation and its equipment and configuration of communication networks. This language is called System Configuration description Language (SCL) and, along with its documentation which corresponds to part 6 of the standard, they constitute the main object of study of this work. Files written in SCL are also written in eXtensible Markup Language (XML), and its contents are governed by XML Schema supporting files made available by the IEC and documented by Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams. The part 6 of the standard describes the content of 6 file extensions, of which the most relevant one is named System Configuration Description (SCD). First, this work summarizes knowledge from the IEC 61850 standard that is necessary for the understanding of SCL. Secondly, with the help of the diagram tool Microsoft Visio and the Microsoft Visual Studio tool acting as a XML processor, this works contributes with additional resources by describing relevant information concerning the XML, XML Schema and UML languages which are prerequisites to understand the aforementioned supporting files. Thirdly, this work describes the relation between the supporting files and its contents, including new UML diagrams which are complementary to those in the standard. In conclusion, the SCL is an extensive, extensible and ever-changing theme that requires non-inherent knowledge from the industry professionals, in a way that the mapping of the relevant documentation, the expanding of learning resources and the conducted analysis within this work aid the qualification of professionals, reducing time investment, enhancing the understanding of key concepts and reducing eventual technical errors. |
