Resumo: The objective of this work was to evaluate parameters of plantability, performance of onion cultivars under soil tillage and to analyze the post-harvest quality during storage time. For conducting experiment I, a randomized block design with subdivided plots was adopted, in which the main plots consisted of two forms of soil preparation (total area and bed) and in the subplots, six onion cultivars (Itajubá, Rainha , Salto Grande, Omega, Mulata and BR29), with four repetitions. Bulb productivity parameters were evaluated. Experiment II was conducted until the seedling emergence stabilized, in a randomized block design with subdivided plots, where the main plots consisted of two forms of soil preparation (total area and bed) and in the subplots, four depths of sowing (0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 cm), with six replications. Seedling development parameters and initial stand were evaluated. For experiment III, a completely randomized design in a factorial scheme (6x4) was used, represented by six onion cultivars from experiment I, evaluated in four storage periods (40, 80, 120 and 160 days), in three replications. The bulbs were stored in a cold chamber, at a temperature of 5 ºC with 75% relative humidity. Physical and chemical characteristics of onion bulbs were evaluated. For the performance of cultivars under soil management, cultivar Rainha presented better behavior for the studied productivity parameters. In relation to soil management, the cultivation of onion under beds provides greater vegetative development and yields. When analyzing the cultivation of onion under total area, it is possible to indicate the use of cultivars BR29 and Rainha, because for the productivity of class 3 bulbs, they did not show any significant difference between the studied soil managements. For the plantability experiment, when the encantamento, the sowing depth of 1.5 cm stands out as being the most propitious for the initial development of onion seedlings, resulting in higher germination speed indexes and plant stand, for the cultivation of onion in total area, the depth of 1.7 cm was the most favorable. Raising beds provides better initial development of onion seedlings. Regarding the post-harvest characteristics of onion cultivars, it was observed that regardless of the evaluation period, the physical and chemical changes are significant for all cultivars analyzed. It is also worth mentioning the cultivar Salto Grande, which showed less loss of fresh weight during the evaluation periods. For the chemical characteristics of soluble solids and titratable acidity, the cultivars Itajubá, Salto Grande and Omega stood out for their low loss of characteristics, with greater storage potential.
