Resumo: In this work, a coupled fluid-structure problem is approached, comparing the result with the modal analysis of a structure. The objective of this work is to analyze the physical phenomenon of fluid-structure interaction in flexible structures, adopting a model compatible with this situation. The coupled problem is solved using a Lagrangean-Eulerian approach for the fluid domain, whereas for the solid domain an Lagrangean approach is used. As support for solving the mathematical equations of the coupled problem, ANSYS® physical analysis software was used. A modal analysis using the Rational Fractional Polynomial method was developed for a small-scale steel structure, and the result was compared to the result obtained from the software model. Its vibrating modes and natural frequencies are used to compare with what occurred in the coupled problem. The coupled problem consists of analyzing the dynamic behavior of the structure when it is subjected to a load of random winds, generated by the incidence of a gust of wind in obstacles. It was found that a structure subjected to loads of random winds tends to move according to its modes of vibration. In addition, if the oscillation of the random wind load has a frequency close to the natural frequency of the structure, it tends to obtain large displacements.
