The objective of this study was to understand the effects of intake of green tea on periodontal disease repair proceso (SD) induced in rats that underwent intravenous administration of zoledronate. 60 male Wistar rats divided into four groups were used: (G1) Control; (G2) zoledronate application; (G3) and green tea intake (G4) zoledronate Application and green tea intake. All animals were subjected to induction of PD. Animals in group 3 and 4 which were treated with bisphosphonates (BPs) (35 mg / kg zoledronate, intravenously). Green tea is available daily, and the DP was induced by ligation after the 3rd application of the drug. The animals were euthanized at 7, 14 and 28 days after the induction of PD. Histological analyzes, histometric and image acquisition by microtomography furcal and-bone crest were performed. Bone loss in micrometres in furcation region was similar in the control group and the green tea intake, respectively, at 7 (1078.25 ± 44.54 and 1409.02 ± 352.30), 14 (1623, 13 ± 504.74 and 1192.66 ± 448.31) and 28 days (1581.81 ± 99.38 and 1563.69 ± 270.35). When zoledronate was administered there was a protective effect of bone tissue in the initial periods, the furcation region at 7 (394.45 ± 63.38) and 14 days (683.55 ± 23.97) is similar to the other groups to 28 days (961.46 ± 284.41). The association of green tea with zoledronate promoted similar results to encontradosno grpo zoledronate, at 7 (491.11 ± 151.03), 14 (500.16 ± 103.06) and 28 days (1275.28 ± 590.68) . There was formation of bone kidnappings in the analyzed periods. The bony ridge there was no difference between groups. Therefore, green tea intake showed no influence on periodontal healing, while zoledronate acts antirreabsortiva form in PD, in the early periods, although promotes areas of bone necrosis |
