Resumo: |
Determining the anatomy of the upper incisors, without prior anatomical landmarks, is one of the great difficulties in restoring these dental elements. The aim of this study was verify the association between transversal and vertical measures of the face, and the morphology of the maxillary central incisor. For this, was used a ample comprised of 50 Caucasian individuals with natural normal occlusion, with no history of previous orthodontic treatment, which had at least four of the Andrew`s six keys to occlusion. The images of the maxillary central incisors generated by scanning the models (3D) were evaluated by three examiners. The facial measurements were defined by postero-anterior and lateral radiographs. To verify the agreement between examiners as to the classification of the central incisor, Kappa test was used. To investigate the association between variables was used the chi-square test. The chi-square test showed no statistically significant association between variables. Can be concluded that the lateral and vertical measure of the face in determining the morphology of the dental crown is not appropriate. |
