Resumo: |
This study analyses the reception of the proposals of theComputing, Communication and Local Action Group (Grupo de Informática, Comunicação e Ação Local (Giral) by youth in the rural contexts ofGlória do Goitá, Pernambuco. Specifically, it focuses on an understanding of how these young people take on the proposal of audiovisual production, and to what point these professional undertakings are tied to actions which contribute to the construction of local development. GIRAL is a Social Organization of Public Interest, whose mission is to utilize information and communication technology to awaken and enhance the abilities and knowledge of young people. GIRAL´s purpose is to encourage local youth and to lay the foundations for the use of audiovisual technology to carry out actions which will contribute to the generation of funds in Glória do Goitá. It is in this sense that the study emphasizes a perspective aiming to understand how this youth appropriates, in their professional lives, the proposal of audiovisual production, and to what point they are involved in actions which contribute to the construction of local development. The study is anchored in the perspective of cultural studies using the approaches of Jesús Martín-Barbero, NéstorGarcíaCanclini, Tauk Santos, Gilberto Velho, Eli da Veiga, Carlos Jara, E. Guaraná, and other references which motivate research in the sense of analyzing cultural interventions inreception studies of youth from rural contexts. The methodology combined data collection techniques, considering the following categories of analysis: cultural consumption by youth, the appropriation of communication technology, professional development and involvement in activities for the construction of local development. The study showed that influenced by local culture, the young appropriate audiovisual communication technologies to present a “technological bedazzlement” which weighs on these appropriations. In this way, in spite of the efforts employed by Giral in the sense of offering a formation which is capable of turning them into professionals with expertise in audiovisual production, what one observes is that inmost of the cases where young people distance themselves from the program, they are not involved in local development. Even though they have absorbed audiovisual technologies, they are still not able to earn income from the activities learnt on the course. |
