Resumo: |
This work was aimed at identifying the relations between the specialized human workers' or the general community's levies and the neighbouring native ligneous vegetation of the gallery forest along the "riacho do Navio", Floresta county, Pernambuco, area whose permanent preservation is protected by law, in the proximity of the informer´s dwelling. Surveys of the local knowledge about the botanical use was done by direct observation and semi-structured interviews. Sampling plots were chosen within five better-preserved parts of the forest to characterize the ligneous vegetation with dendometric data and the collect of material to be identified in herbarium. Our informers identified 34 native ligneous species of the gallery forest whose uses are distributed between 8 categories of works: domestic construction; rural construction; medicinal; human alimentation; fodder; technological uses; firewood/fuel; other non-timber uses. The analysis of the data has pointed to a better knowledge of uses as fodder and lumber. A better recognition of fodder resources has been assigned at a local tradition of extensive goat breeding (caprinoculture). Specialized workers as well as the general community make use of most species considered but few of these with a high level of utilization. The vegetation in the study area is arborescent, being predominant Ziziphus joazeiro, Crataeva tapia, Lonchocarpus sericeus, T. aurea, Geoffroea spinosa, S. brasiliensis, Sapindus saponaria, Albizia inundata and Triplaris gardneriana, which ones differ from those species surveyed in "caatinga's" neighbouring areas. The phytosociological parameters estimated had no correlation with the use value of the different species. The importance of gallery forest was illustrated not only as factor of water resources conservation and answer to needs of the local community but also as the guarantee of perpetuation for typical species to these environments |
