Resumo: Nowadays organizations having to deal with the great global competitiveness are looking for new ways of guaranteeing their spaces in the market, for this it is fundamental to create and maintain an innovative organizational context. Not unlike the others, museological institutions, essentially creative endeavors, seek different means to achieve this change, being a project management alternative to this positive transformation. From this, the present work intends to make an analysis about the creative economy, which has innovation as one of its pillars and the management of projects, investigating how this management becomes a tool of innovation for museums, and how it is possible to apply project management to these economically creative institutions. The main objective of the study is the creation of a project management model applied to museums, allowing them to optimize their activities, thus increasing the flow of tourists. In order to reach the objectives, in the first stage the bibliographical review was used for a better knowledge of the topics addressed, followed by a systematic review of the literature in order to discover the trends in project management, and in a third stage were carried out semi-structured interviews directed to the managers of the selected museums. As a methodology for the analysis of the collected data, Atlas ti 7.0 software was used, whose objective is to help the researchers to systematically discover and analyze complex phenomena hidden and unstructured data. As a result, the project management model for museological institutions was built, with creative and innovative principles, in order to subsidize and improve the actions and projects of the museums.
