Resumo: This dissertation aims to analyze the associations between coworking characteristics and business performance in the city of Recife. It is known that the current economic situation shows a favorable scenario for shared means of production, context that includes coworking spaces. The sharing of space and the co-location of its economic actors is able to highlight features that may be associated and induce the performance of businesses located in coworkings. These features are known as network, creativity and innovation, infrastructure and environment and the location of spaces. Considering these properties and being an exploratory and quantitative research, a sample of 77 businesses located in coworkings in Recife was collected. The collected data proved to be reliable and adequate to perform factor analysis and to apply bivariate correlation as methods of analysis. The application of these methods brought results for the identification of perceived associations through the correlation between the characteristic components and the organizational performance. As a result, it was possible to identify that the creativity generated through a benchmark and an appropriate infrastructure as the characteristics associated with organizational performance. Also highlighted was the role of the network and location in associating with market and financial performance, as well as identifying the existence of a correlation between the main characteristics of coworkings. Because the coworking phenomenon is still little explored academically, the results of this dissertation may provide theoretical directions for future research.
