Resumo: This research aims to investigate how information is transmited in family farms, and how the use of information can help to improve agricultural productivity, specially with technical improvements in cassava production in rural areas, such as Vitória de Santo Antão / PE, in order to identify the constraints in the transmission of information reported by rural workers, as much as present rural workers’ profile and evaluate the competitive advantage of the use of information for productivity of cassava based on productivity indicators. The analyses covered a sample of 15 producers in a universe of 24 farmers participating in the project coordinated by SNE. Questionnaires were addressed to workers and technicals, as well as the technique of systematic observation in order to know the methodology used in technical areas. The results revealed that the limiting process of transmitting information to farmers are due mainly to the poor education of farmers, the lack of appropriate technology due to limited resources, the resistance to changings and lack of human and financial assistance for the training of producers.
