The research undertaken for this study investigated the SCI activities in the Agriculture undergraduate students training in sugar and ethanol industry, from Pernambuco State, from 2009 to October 2011. The SCI can be seen as a training tool for the future professional in which the student begins his practical training, experiencing with professionals in work routines and the opportunity to participate in specific courses and training that will corroborate with their training. The present study is characterized as a descriptive research field. So the strategy is analytic, and data were collected in order to describe the studied phenomenon. Two different data collection techniques were used: questionnaires to the undergraduates’ students and semi-structured interviews with the managers. The collected data refers to 75% of the plants that offered more SCI. Questionnaires were sent to managers and all 38 industry participants answered them. Among the study results, recommendation was identified as the most used type of students’ recruitment and selection in most plants because of their industry culture, which many students’ relatives work in the area. The plants, according to managers and students, offer training and courses to interns, especially focused on industry-specific technical training and behavioral aspects such as teamwork and leadership. The managers interviewed were unanimous in saying that the internship is a facilitator to the professional enter in market, corroborating the studied authors, such as Kunz (1999) and Andrade (2005). The main advantage in receiving interns, according to managers, is the skilled training, joint learning in day to day solutions and mutual participation between practical and theoretical knowledge. According to managers, the benefits related to the new internship Law were the hours reduction during college tests. Students consider the SCI as a main tool that facilitates the practical knowledge building and a social network. The internship then allows the students to experience responsibilities and commitments in the exercise of their profession, to know their area of expertise and professional routine. It also can be understood as a professional inclusion.
