Resumo: This work investigated the existence of convergence (or divergence) between the position recommended to the teachers, by The Nacional Curricular Parameters (NCP) and the approach of the transversal subject ―Sexual Orientation‖, through the study of teachers and students‘s perceptions. Five characteristics were used as the basis for this investigation, among the ones recommended by The NPC: ―clarity‖, ―systematization‖, ―attitudes of acceptance to the students expressions‖, ―content domain‖, and ―transdisciplinar aspects‖. Took part of the study six teachers from the teaching state network of the municipality of Jaboatão, state of Pernambuco, thirty six (36) students from the basic education (three groups) and high school (three groups) of the investigated schools divided into six (6) groups, with ages ranging from 12 to 17 years old. The data were obtained throught semi-structured interviews which were transcribed and analyzed. Categories and subcategories were created from the five characteristics selected for the study, and the speeches of teachers and students. It was infered from the analysis of these data that, even the teachers formally were unaware about The NPC recommendations, some characteristics described in them were identified as important and desirable in teachers and students‘ speeches, taking as examples, ―transdisciplinar aspects‖ and ―content domain‖. However, this does not mean they are present in classes. From the interview with the teachers emerged, as the main claim, the existence of systematic continued formation that approaches the questions about sexual orientation and transdisciplinarity and convergences as for content domain and transdisciplinary aspects. The suggestions presented in both teachers and students‘ speeches complemented each other; in all the five categories, ―transdiciplinar acting‖ – suggested by the teachers – and ―bigger frequency in the approach‖ – suggested by the students, would result in a bigger quantity of classes about this subject because of the transdisciplinarity. As for the obstacles, the prevalent one among the teachers was the lack of continued formation. The students‘s perceptions was related to the necessity of having more lessons with transdisciplinar approach, and a more accessible language to answer their desires.
