Resumo: Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacerarum (Xam) is a bacterium that causes important damages to the productive system of the cotton, is one of the most important diseases, causal agent of angular leaf spot. That bacterium can survive in soil, plantation rest and seeds, considered to be an important transmission vehicle of dissemination. For its detection, was developed a semi-selective medium for use in laboratorial routine of seed pathology. With intention the nutrition exigent study, carboidrat, antibiotics and fungicides in different concentrations were tested alone or in combination with others. From these tests, was allowed the selection of the antibacterial substance ampicilina, cefalexina, and ciclohexamide. Attempts of thinking a was elected semi selective medium the to found, in its final composition of simple compost and basic prepare. The composed of semi selective medium of 10g/L sucrose, 10g/L starch, 10g/L yeast extract, 5g/L sodium clorite, 15g/L agar-agar, whit suplement 10mg ampicilina, 30mg cefalexina and 100mg ciclohexamide. The semi selective medium detected a Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum of relative insurance and rapid, used in routines test
