Resumo: Resource optimization and waste disposal are goals in which companies are investing to have operational excellence. The present work describes the use of computational simulation applied to the factory environment in an office chair company with the purpose of selecting the most appropriate strategy for future modifications in the factory and meeting a new level of production demand. The computational simulation study aims to restructure the layout in order to increase productivity. There is a great complexity and variability in their production flows and in order to address this problem, a data collection methodology was proposed, as well as the construction of a model of simulation that represented this production system. Once the model was validated, experiments were carried out, aiming at the achievement of previously established objectives. The results obtained with the computational simulation prove that its use emerges as an effective tool to evaluate the system, pointing out that the best strategy to increase the productive capacity was obtained with the use of the lean philosophy in its critical processes. Other gains are reflected in the production process and favor approximate financial gains of R$ 3.316.723,20 per year, a 65% reduction in product cycle time and an improvement in the flow of information and materials.
