The research aimed to conduct a study on Popular Education and Economic Solidarity with reference to empirical work at the Center for Popular Education (CEPO) along the pickers Erechim / RS, organized into three entities: Associação de Recicladores Cidadãos Amigos da Natureza (ARCAN) , Associação de Catadores Reciclando pela Vida and Associação de Recicladores Filhos da Natureza . It is argued from these experiences as CEPO acted on advice to job creation and development of these associations, guided by a perspective of Popular Education and aimed at strengthening the solidarity economy. The research problem focuses on pedagogy used by CEPO on the advice of movements that resulted in the organization of the association. The guiding principle of the work focuses on educational practice that was happening from the reflection of the action, in order to qualify it in view of the transformation of relations of oppression, prejudice and exclusion. The study relies on references and documentary and also on participant observation, recorded in the field diary. The dissertation is divided into four chapters: the first chapter, "Education popular and solidarity economy: historical instruments of struggle and organization," discusses some concepts such as Popular Education and Solidarity Economy, in the second chapter, "Conceptions of theoretical and methodological Centre for Popular Education, "was considered the work of CEPO, design and popular education methodology with the scavengers in the organization of associations, in the third chapter," The emergence of associations of collectors / pickers of recyclable material and involvement in Erechim CEPO in the educational process, "to reconstruct the trajectories of incorporation of the three associations pickers Erechim and highlights some elements of the process of organizing and monitoring these groups, in the fourth chapter," The formation of public policy in the area of solidarity economy and the relationship of the associations of collectors / pickers with other social actors ", discusses the relationship between collectors, Government and other social actors as fundamental to strengthen the solidarity economy enterprises in this area, promoting effective action to fight poverty and environmental degradation. The research led to some conclusions, including the need to recognize the public service of the collector, involving associations in solid waste management in municipalities, enabling higher quality of life for the workers.
