Resumo: For the analysis of the wear behavior of dental restorative materials in a precise and less subjective way, the design and construction of a wear testing machine in accordance with the ISO/TS 14569-2 standard was proposed, allowing full control of the main parameters of test, such as displacement speed and load application, in addition to the use of more than one test method by the same equipment. Dental restorations, wear mechanisms in dental restorations, wear testing machines and the ISO/TS 14569-2 standard were studied. From this study, three methods of the standard were selected to be met in the same equipment. With these data, the conceptual design and the detailed design of the wear testing machine were developed, using specific design software. The construction of the prototype of the device was carried out using modern and precise manufacturing processes. The subsequent validation of the movements of the wear testing machine was carried out in accordance with the ISO/TS 14569-2 standard, as well as the other variables necessary for carrying out the wear test, in accordance with that standard.
