Resumo: |
Innovative business models concerned with solving social problems through market mechanisms are gaining strength. Over time, capitalism has brought many social and technological advances, allowing an improvement in the living conditions, comfort and well-being of a considerable part of society. However, the imbalance in the distribution of wealth has generated profound social inequalities between countries and their populations. Social and political crises, combined with social problems, spread across the world. Social businesses emerge as alternatives to traditional business models when they bring together, in a single organizational structure, obtaining economic gain and meeting social expectations and demands. However, its hybrid character carries tensions arising from the effort to balance economic aspects and the social mission. In this sense, the objective of this work is to analyze how the organizational tensions found in Social Businesses act in their hybrid environment. In order to obtain the proposed intent, an exploratory qualitative research was carried out, through semi-structured interviews and subsequent application of a questionnaire to confirm and validate the data. The research subjects were founders/managers of Social Businesses located in the states of PR, SC and RS. The results identified in the Social Businesses researched show that the activities and objectives concerning the central activity dimensions of the organization, the composition of the workforce, the organizational design and the organizational culture are integrated and less prone to tensions. The dimension that refers to inter-organizational relationships presented differentiation between the activities and objectives of the economic and social dimensions, which results in a greater propensity for tensions. Paradoxical result tensions were found focused on measurement indicators, the mobilization of financial resources and inter-organizational relationships. |
