Resumo: The objective of this research is to investigate the discourse analysis practices significances in the on line letters and academic texts, including the category of the subject and not only thinking it from the text in its organization. The analysis is based on the theories of French Discourse Analysis AD supported by the Michel Pêcheux studies and mainly the Eni Orlandy s formulations to the delimitation though the modes of reading: intelligible, interpretative, understandable. At this point, the aim is to find the author s consideration concerning two modes of meaning: the interpretative and understandable. According to Pêcheux every meaning implies in ideological unconscious patterns organized in discourse arrangements. If so, the subject is questioned by the discursive constructions which is part of his/her structure and represents in the language determined ideological pattern. These ideological formations in the author-subject-reader help him/her to search for the ideal meaning when reading a text. In relation to the corpus, it was tried to understand the measure, in this reading process, the author-subjetc-reader constructed by ideologies, applies to give meaning to the text. In order to meet the aims of this study a journalistic corpus and letters answering these journalistic texts published in on line newspapers followed by letters written by students in an academic context, was applied. The letters point out to an author-subject-reader that links to the meaning through an interpretative level. In relation to the understandable, there are fewer number of subjects who give meaning to that level and the analysis shows that subject-reader long for accomplishing and the wish in learning or fill the learning gaps, the contradictory characteristic of the subject and language in the meaning processes, are always emerge in the process. In conclusion, to give meaning and understand methodologically are distinct levels, however the style of interpretation is part of the subject. For that reason, it is part of the school to open the perspectives of work so that the student establishes a reading relation, observes the others and observes him/herself as an author and reader, and above all, theorizes about the reading
