Resumo: Cognitive effectiveness and social skills influence the well-being throughout the life cycle, especially in the elderly. As a result, to evaluate these important constructs you need to have valid instruments. Thus, the present work aimed to verify the validity of Zulliger of the Comprehensive System ZSC in the assessment of cognition in adult life, as well as to assess social skills. Considering the objectives, the work is organized in three sessions: scientific production I, scientific production II, scientific production III. The first production, performed a systematic literature review of articles published using the Zulliger test in the Brazilian scenario, from 2004 to 2014. In the second production, we investigated the validity of the ZSC to differentiate cognitive development in the course of adult life and ascertain a possible relationship between socioeconomic status and the education with the cognitive processes. In the third production, we sought to evaluate the repertoire of social skills (SS) in the elderly and non-elderly adults. As statistical methods we used analysis of variance with one classification criterion and Pearson's correlation (p ≤0,05). The results confirmed the validity of ZSC as a promising instrument to evaluate psychological aspects, particularly cognitive at all stages of human development. Older adults and longevous showed a significant decrease in information processing (PSV), mediation (X%, X%, P) and abstract reasoning (M) compared to young adults and middle-aged. The socioeconomic status and schooling showed significant and positive correlations with cognitive processes (R, ZF, W, M, DQ + and Intellectualization). Still, older adults were more restricted social interactions and a repertoire of SS less developed compared to non-elderly adults. Therefore, among the contributions of this research, it highlights the validity of the ZSC to make up periodic evaluations, especially with older people, in order to maintain and promote the cognitive resources and social skills, thus strengthening the mental health
