The university extension, axis that composes the tripod of the Brazilian university, is the central theme of this research. Extensionist experiences have great potential in mobilizing the formation of a critical student education that implicate in different social contexts, which allow students to take to the classroom and to the act of researching the questions they experience through projects and education programs of extension. This is the experience that mobilized my trajectory as a student at the University of Passo Fundo/RS and from this process the problem of the present research was born, as follows: What are the contributions of the conception of communication evidenced by Paulo Freire for the university extension of the community university? The research aims to: (a) highlight, especially from Freire's work Extension or communication? (1977), contributions to thinking about and developing a liberating university extension; (b) understand how the perspective of extension communication is expressed in the letters of the National Forum for Extension and Community Action – ForExt; and, (c), list the contributions of the conception of the inseparability between teaching, research and extension beyond the curricularization of university extension in community universities, especially considering that, in them, the community cannot be something destined only to extension, but must cross teaching and research. This study is constituted as a bibliographical research of a qualitative nature, having as main reference the study of university extension through the work Extension or communication? (1977), in which Paulo Freire makes a critical analysis of the concept of university extension and points to communication as a potentiator of an interdisciplinary dialogic process, making this one of the main contributions of Freire's thought to university extension. In conclusion, the dissertation proposes a critical university extension, guided by the bias of communication as a potentiator of teaching and learning; the interdisciplinary dialogue and the construction of a Popular Education as the main differential of the community university project. |
