This work presents an analysis of the expansion process of the technological and professional education until the creation of the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology. The work is about a research in the 38 Institutes created by means of the Law nr. 11.892 of December 29th, 2008, being the collected data evidences of the dimension of the professional education in a federal level, which has in its history, according to the Education Ministry, started with the creation of the Artifices Apprentices Schools in 1909. To develop this work, it was necessary to investigate from several information sources including books, web sites and documents. The work s structure is composed by three chapters and an attachment which contains an information spreadsheet regarding the Institutes information. In the first chapter, an historical of the professional education in Brazil is presented. The subject expansion, which discusses the intents of the federal government in expanding the professional education and the Institutes composition through the law analysis, is detailed in the chapter two. Finally, the third chapter describes the 38 created Institutes, considering the specific characteristics of each campus |
