Resumo: This dissertation, entitled "Study of polygons in the 6th grade of elementary school through playful activities", is a work linked to the Postgraduate Program in Science and Mathematics Teaching of the University of Passo Fundo/RS (PPGCEM/UPF/RS) with the support of the Catholic Faculty of Rondônia (FCR), in the research line Educational practices in teaching Science and Mathematics, and it was developed with a class of 6th grade elementary school students at EEEFM. Dayse Mara de Oliveira Martins in the city of Jaru/RO. The aforementioned dissertation also generated an Educational Product (PE) entitled "Drawing and Learning Polygons in the 6th grade of elementary school." Both works will be available for free access on the PPGECM website: http:www.upf.br/ppgecm and on the EduCapes portal at the link: http://educapes.capes.gov.br/handle/capes/743401. The general objective of the work developed was to analyze the potential of a Didactic Sequence for the teaching and learning process, developed through playful activities on the content of Polygons in the 6th grade of Elementary School, which can help in the study of polygons in Mathematics content. The dissertation developed had theoretical support in ideas from Pontes, Crusius and Vygotsky when they were linked to the central activity of the work, which was the use of playful activities and pedagogical games. The application was through practical classes in the teaching of geometry with a focus on polygons within the content of Mathematics. The research developed was qualitative and had as data collection instruments the logbook, questionnaires and photographs. The results presented were satisfactory because the students, in addition to understanding the dynamics of the practical classes, understood the importance of studying this content for their daily lives, promoting in them a consistent learning on the subject or even assisting. The gaps arising from previous years in learning and this study made it possible for the aforementioned 6th grade elementary school students to master the content of polygons.
