Resumo: The biofuel production is necessary and there are searches for economically viable processes for the production from renewable energy sources, stands out ethanol production from lignocellulosic materials. The aim of this study was to obtain ethanol from sugarcane bagasse hydrolyzate with fermentation by Zymomonas mobilis and Pachysolen tannophilus consortium. The methods for sugarcane bagasse hydrolysis were variations in the concentration of H2SO4 from 0 to 5% v/v, time 15 to 30 min at 121 °C, 12 and 24 h at ambient temperature and submission of detoxification with activated charcoal. For up to 72 h fermentations made experimetal planning with independent variables: initial pH (4,5; 5,5 and 6,5), temperature (25, 30 and 35 ° C), agitation (0; 75 and 150 rpm), incubation time (24; 48 and 72 h) and substrate concentration (5; 10 and 15% w/v) using three fermentation media (glucose, hydrolyzed without detoxify and detoxified hydrolyzate). To evaluate kinetics, the fermentation was monitored every 2 h during 24 h at pH 5,5 at 30 °C without shaking with 15% w/v substrate, for each micro-organism. The consortium fermentation, micro-organisms were inoculated together at the beginning of fermentation and was divided into two groups one was at pH 4,5 with 5% and another substrate at pH 6,5 with 15% substrate without shaking at 30 °C 24 h monitored every 2 h. The results for hydrolysis to total sugars of chosen standard (2% H2SO4 for 15 min at 121 °C) were 78,7 mg/mL. The detoxification decreased 26, 2% of total phenolic compounds. The higher ethanol production by Z. mobilis was 36,6 mg/mL in 6 h of fermentation. For P.tannophilus was 39,8 mg/mL in 72 h, 35 °C, 150 rpm, pH 6,5 and 15% w/v with without detoxify hydrolyzate medium and 38,7 mg/mL in detoxified hydrolyzate medium at 6 h. The consortium obtained 42 mg/mL of ethanol under pH 6,5 with 15% w/v detoxified hydrolyzate medium at 6 h with productivity of 5,4 g/L.h-1. The consortium was ...
