Resumo: | The quality and trophic state of the water are critical problems in lentic environments such as hydroelectric reservoirs. These man-made constructions alter the natural environment and the physical, chemical and biological water characteristics. Time series of remote sensing images, which provide a synoptic view and suitable temporal and spectral resolution, allow studying the trophic phenomena in large artificial lakes and evaluate the variability of optically active components associated with trophic processes from periodic patterns of seasonality and trend. This work was developed in the Porto Primavera reservoir located in the Paraná River on the border between Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo states, Brazil. Its development consisted at first, of the calibration of empirical models to relate remote sensing reflectance values and in situ measurements of optically active variables (chlorophyll-a - Chl-a, total suspended solids - TSS and Secchi disk depth - SDD) and the estimation of Trophic State Index by means of concentration of chlorophyll-a (TSI (Chl-a)). Empirical models calibrated for the variables were applied to images from MODIS/Terra, referring to surface reflectance product MOD09 and they were extrapolated for the period from May 2000 to April 2015, generating the time series for each of them. In order to analyze the spatial and temporal dynamics of the optically active variables were used visualization techniques for univariate and multivariate data. The analysis of time series showed that all observed variables present considerable seasonal variability. MODIS images indicated TSI (Chla)... |
