Creative activities have an increasingly relevant role in the theories and dynamics of territorial development. The connections between territory and creativity are multiple and cities are social constructs and are territories where the concentrations of creative activities become visible. One of the dimensions of human creativity refers to artistic creativity, which include musical activities, with profound territorial implications. The present research aims to demonstrate the relevant role of creative activities to the territorial development and the importance of the territory to the development of creative activities. The spatial area of this scientific research are the musical activities in the municipality of Tatuí (SP), Music Capital of São Paulo State. The survey analyzed the territorial development of Tatuí and their links with the musical creative activity in political, economic and cultural aspects. The research revealed that there are many existing links between the creative musical activities and territorial development of the city of Tatuí since its formation history, involving the creation and evolution of the Conservatory of Musical and Dramatic arts Dr. Carlos de Campos in Tatuí. The survey found, also, the current importance of the government, the private sector and civil society in this creative city and the formation and attraction of artists and human resources in the area of arts and cultural production. Policies and legislations in the municipality are incipient and point to the institutionalization and strengthening of links between creativity and urban development, as well as the structuring of cultural tourism in the city. In this sense, there is a process in which the creative activities promote territorial development and the territory is a fundamental element for the development of creative activities
