Resumo: On the basis of the Federal Institute for Education, Science and Technology of Mato Grosso, the study aims at analyzing the possibilities and perspectives of the implementation of Decree 5.478/05 which established on the federal institutions of technological education, the national program entitled Professional and Basic Education for young people and adults - PROEJA. The analysis carried out, counted on the macro scope, concerning the national curriculum policy and also provided the analysis and description of the implementation in the practice of the results of the Decree. The research had as analytical basis, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Mato Grosso. The study was guided by the concepts of Gramsci (2000), Robert Hutchins (1970), Paul Legrand (1971), Edgar Faure (1977), Paulo Freire (1999) Tenti Fantini (2006), Licinio Lima (2012), Gelpi, (2005), Ivan Illlich (1971) authors who have been analyzing in their lifelong the thematics of education and education for work. The idea that had been considered along this research was that the Professional and Technological Education have been aggregating to the context of integral formation an opportunity to humanistic, critical and citizen, able to overcome the alienating and mechanistic vision of an education just for the work, having on the Alterity relations, constructed by the language, the basis of the knowledge process production. The research was guided by the qualitative bibliographic and documentary (written and oral) approaches. It also aimed at providing a diagnosis of the reality of the institution and the program by collecting documents, based on the perception of students, teachers and administrators concerning the development of the institution.
