Low back pain is as multifactorial disorder regarding its etiology, which is influenced by lifestyle habits such as physical activity and genetic factors. Although physical activities being recognized in the guidelines for the treatment of low back pain, there is a lack of consistency about the type and intensity how physical activities should be implemented for this purpose. Moreover, it is not well understood the potential effect of the interaction between different types of physical activities on low back pain and chronic low back pain. Our study aimed to investigate the association between physical activity practised as light walking, recreational physical activity, and physical activity in the form of domestic activities on chronic low back pain through a twin study design and a co-twin control analysis for discordant pairs of twins for the outcome chronic low back pain.
