Resumo: This work relates to experimental research with Kinosternon scorpioides adults captive and aimed to describe and analyze aspects of reproductive biology and behavior of Kinosternon scorpioides adults in captivity, through the sexual cycle related parameters and reproductive performance of adult specimens of Kinosternon scorpioides the Scientific Breeding múcua Project Bio-Fauna of the Federal Rural University of Amazonia UFRA in Belém, Pará ultrasound examination was performed to determine the feasibility of the technique, associated with behavioral parameters for the study of follicular event in females of Kinosternon scorpioides. Two batches of males and females were formed at a ratio of 1: 3, comprising 10 to 30 breeding matrices. Sonographic examinations were performed and behavioral monitoring. The animais were reviewed over a year, every 7 days for evaluation and mapping of the pattern of follicular growth in both ovaries and the presence of egg in the oviduct, and monitoring of reproductive and agonistic behavior of the species. Reproductive structures were observed in 30 females, of which 26 were reproductively active while 4 had atretic follicles and small follicles. In this embodiment, the follicles showed a steady, uniform growth by approximately 42.7 days (between 18 and 81 days). In the case of females who made multiple postures was verified the presence of eggs and a more active ovary with the presence of large follicles (1.68 ± 0,18cm) with continued growth to the size of pre-ovulatory follicles were observed two . type of cycle, the short and long. In the first, involved the follicles grew poorly and showed an average diameter of 1.05 (± 0.07) cm, in the second follicles were similar to the size of pre-ovulatory follicles: 1.52 (± 0.3) cm in diameter. Copulation occurred involving only females with large follicles. Correlation between the size of the follicles present in the ovary and the acceptance of copulation was ...
