Resumo: | Water resources are considered the most relevant and potential elements, as well as a tourist attraction factor in many touristic destinations. Tourism practice using water as an attraction gives value to water quality. Into this context, it may be considered that to have the tourism activity, the water must have all the characteristis able to generate the feeling of attraction and satisfaction to tourists. Beyond that, water must have compatible physio-chemical characteristics to the stabilished rules regarded to tourism use. Rio Formoso basin is the most imnportant water basin of Bonito-MS in which part of the tourist attracation related to the water are located in it. This present thesis tried to analyse the basin physiographic characteristics, evaluate the water quality of the touristic attractions as well as the perception of the tourists after their contact with it, in an attempt of understanding the water importance on tourism activity from the tourists point of view. It was also a goal of the present research, the evaluation of all the factors that did influence the water quality allowing the bathing and tourism practice into Formoso basin.
