Resumo: | In southwestern area of Campos Basin, Brazil, thick lacustrine bivalve deposits of the Lagoa Feia Group (Rift Phase/Early Aptian) occur as petroleum reservoirs. This study aims to improve the characterization of the depositional facies and diagenetic events associated with the coquinas and to define the controlling parameters of the reservoir quality in terms of permeability and porosity; the impact of depositional and diagenetic heterogeneities in oil production is also subject to review. Based on data from rock studies, including core analysis, petrographic studies and petrophysical information, and using well logs and analogies with Cretaceous and Recent carbonate units, it was possible to get a better understanding of the depositional and diagenetic processes involving the coquinas, as well as their geometries. The reservoir quality is controlled by interaction of multiple variables, including structural/tectonic factors (responsible for the creation of accommodation space and supply of siliciclasts), depositional aspects (texture, sorting, mineralogical composition, content of matrix) and diagenetic processes (cementation, dissolution, burial and neomorfism). These variables influenced the storage and flow capacity of the reservoir, introducing heterogeneities and causing the fluid flow slow down or stop it within the reservoir. The nine lacustrine carbonate facies herein recognized were grouped into three facies associations: a. high energy facies composed by rudstones and grainstones; b. moderate energy facies represented by packstones and floatstones; and c. low energy facies including wackestones and mudstones. Only depositional facies of high-energy show favorable conditions for the development of good permeability/porosity. The coquina carbonate reservoir presents a high degree of vertical heterogeneity caused by stratigraphic cyclicity, wide textural variety associated to changes in the energy of the depositional environment... |
