Resumo: | The objective of this study is to analyze the grammatical activities proposed in the teaching materials offered by the State Department of Education of São Paulo directed to the 6th grade of elementary school. The material is guiding reference for the teaching activity and has been used throughout the state system as a teaching tool and learning under the guidance of school managements and monitoring of educational boards. Through these reflections intend to observe which methodological and linguistic direction taken by manufacturers of the material, seeking to detect, for example, the approach adopted by them. The volumes chosen for the job are the notebooks of the student and the teacher of the 6th year (5th grade) of elementary education, Volume 1, learning situations 1, 2, and 3. The analysis will have as a principle, the treatment given to activities proposed with nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. The intention is not to verify the quality of activities, but to understand its theoretical and methodological guidance and propose alternatives that add value to them. We do not exempt ourselves from, with this, carrying out a critical analysis, grounded by a consistent theoretical framework. There are several possibilities to deal with grammar in the classroom, from the most traditional, to those that allow a broad reflection of linguistic phenomena in their achievement contexts. I understand that knowing when to use this or that and take the student to realize the possibilities of each and their importance for the realization of communication (oral or written) efficien, are teacher roles. For this to happen it needs to study, search, create and challenge. This work will also discuss the deployment and intent of the Official State Curriculum.
