Resumo: | Geomorphometric analysis provides quantitative data about the land, which allows a hierarchical evaluation of the potential of geometric characteristics of their shapes to the development of morphodynamic processes. Among the many variables that can be measure, the horizontal and vertical dissection are widely used in geomorphological studies in Brazil because they enable to evaluate the processes related to the intensity of the fluvial dynamics. The combination of these two variables allows an analysis of relief energy, which means, a measure of relief potential for triggering morphodynamic processes. Obtaining this type of data, that have traditionally involved a time consuming job due the need for a detailed and manual analysis of topographic bases, it has significantly evolved with the development of digital cartographic techniques. In this context, this study aimed to propose and evaluate new automated techniques for horizontal and vertical dissection data extraction and improve the representation of these parameters as well as the relief energy. Besides, considering the importance of these parameters to evaluate the relief and for the study of morphodynamic processes, the spatial correlation between the proposed techniques and the occurrence of erosive features and landslides has been verified. The thesis was developed based on four experiments. Two automatic techniques for extracting horizontal and vertical dissection data were developed in experiments 1 and 2. The evaluation of these techniques proved their efficiency and showed their viability for application in large areas with significant time savings, more reliable data and the possibility of making corrections in digital data. The experiment 3 was conducted with the aim of improve the relief energy data and verifies its spatial correlation with the erosion and mass movements. Results showed that the relief energy presented strong positive spatial correlation with the... |
