Resumo: | The first attempts to preserve cultural heritage, visible already in the 18th century Europe, include architectural heritage documentation. In 1885, in his first work, Albrecht Meydenbauer (considered as one of the pioneers of terrestrial photogrammetry), showed that photogrammetry was an efficient technique for the documentation of architectural heritage. The architectural heritage documentation with photogrammetric technique allows recording physical and temporal features of objects of the cultural heritage, and completes the documentation for the needs of the cultural heritage preservation. Given this, in 1987, ICOMOS (International COuncil of MOnuments and Sites) recommended that every ICOMOS member country would constitute a photogrammetric record of theirs monuments and archaeological sites. Since then, the photogrammetry has been one of the most used techniques for the documentation of architectural heritage. This technique has become faster and more affordable with the advancement of digital cameras, the development of digital photogrammetric platforms and automated solutions. In Brazil, architecture as representation of history has been devalued due to low political interests.
