Resumo: The aging associated with the menopause in women causes significant changes on the body composition and in the resting energy expenditure (REE), although there are few evidences related to the effects of concurrent training on this variables in menopausal women. Therefore, the objectives of this study were: I) To verify the effects of concurrent training on the body composition and resting metabolic rate of menopausal women. II) To verify the effects of 16 weeks of concurrent training and the time influence of intervention on the body composition of obese menopausal women. The study included women in menopause, in which were divided into two groups: training group and control group. The assessments occurred in the baseline moment, after eight and 16 weeks of training, however the REE was evaluated only in the baseline moment and after eight weeks of training. In order to estimate the trunk fat, fat mass, body fat percentage and fat free mass it was used the DEXA. The REE was estimated by the indirect calorimetry. The training protocol consisted of 50 minutes of resistance training and 30 minutes of aerobic training...
